Regular collection includes weekly pickup. Collection schedules can vary based on where you’re located.

We’ll give you a schedule for garbage collection and curbside recycling, so you’ll always know when you should plan to put out items. We recommend putting trash cans and recycling bins by the curb the night before to accommodate early-morning pickups.

The holiday schedule is updated on our website, so you’ll always be able to plan for potential service changes.

Rumpke takes municipal solid waste in its trash program, including:

• Plastic trash bags
• Styrofoam items including packing materials, containers, and cups
• Wearable items of clothing including shoes
• Non-recyclable food packaging including overly greasy pizza boxes, takeout food containers, multilayer bags, and candy wrappers
• Paint solidified with cat litter or sawdust
• Broken glass or light bulbs (must be properly contained)
• Large items, such as TVs, mattresses, furniture and certain appliances (please contact Rumpke in advance to schedule pickup of bulky items and to find out any preparation instructions)

Bulky materials including:

• Drywall
• Concrete
• Bricks
• Rocks
• Drums or barrels
• Motor oil or cooking oil

According to federal law, Rumpke is also not permitted to accept batteries, tires, liquids, combustible materials or any items identified as household hazardous waste.

Keep in mind that yard and household containers are not acceptable trash containers and will be assumed trash if placed at the curb.

Our teams try to accommodate oversized items within the same week they are notified. Contact Rumpke to request this service and schedule a pickup at least 48 hours before your regularly scheduled collection to request large item pickup for acceptable large items, and/or excessive amounts of trash. Any mattress or upholstered furniture must be completely wrapped and sealed in disposable plastic for removal.

For even larger bulk trash pickups, scheduling an appointment with our junk hauling service, Haul-it-Away, for an additional fee may be necessary.

Artificial trees cannot be recycled or composted.

For real and artificial trees, please remove all tinsel, ribbons, lights, and other decorations.

For trees longer than 6 feet, please cut it into smaller pieces, bundle it, and place it curbside the night before your regular collection day.*

In some areas, composting options are available for retired, live Christmas trees. You can find the most accurate information for your community by checking with your county’s solid waste management district. Many districts offer free yard waste and tree drop-off stations. You can also check with your local municipal offices.
