Rumpke Purchases Landmark Disposal Near Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 2, 2011) – Rumpke of Northern Ohio, Inc. has purchased
certain waste collection and hauling assets from Landmark Disposal, Ltd. effective
March 1, 2011.

The acquisition included about 30 waste collection vehicles. Rumpke began servicing
former Landmark customers and will mail letters to the new customers announcing the
change. Rumpke will initially maintain the same collection schedule as Landmark, and
customer service will remain uninterrupted during the transition.

“We look forward to providing excellent service for our new customers,” said Andrew
Rumpke, vice president at Rumpke. “While the name on the truck will be different,
customers will not notice any major changes.”

Rumpke also welcomed more than 40 new employees from Landmark, including drivers,
mechanics, laborers and office personnel.

“Our new team members will be the driving force behind our growth in the Cleveland,
Akron and Canton markets,” added Rumpke. “As a family-owned and operated
business, we look forward to becoming an active member of the community.”

Rumpke Waste, Inc., a Rumpke affiliate, also acquired the solid waste transfer station
located at 9191 Postal Dr. in Broadview Heights near Cleveland from Norton
Environmental, an affiliate of Landmark.

Rumpke entered the Cleveland market in August 2009, providing waste removal,
recycling and disposal services. Rumpke owns the Harvard Avenue Transfer Station in
Newburgh Heights and provides disposal services for trash from the City of Cleveland
and its Ridge Road Transfer Station. In 2010, four Rumpke drivers were honored as
“Citizens of the Year” by the Cleveland Division of Fire for saving 10 people from a
burning apartment building.
