Recycling Center Earns Green for Dayton Children's

DAYTON, Ohio—April 17, 2013—Miami Valley residents can earn green for Dayton Children’s Medical Center--simply by going green.

At the Rumpke Recycling buy-back center in Dayton, customers can choose to donate the value of their recyclables to Dayton Children’s, which provides specialized care and a child-friendly environment to meet the unique needs of children dealing with illness and injury.

“Dayton Children’s is pleased to have Rumpke Recycling as a strong partner in our effort to provide the best pediatric healthcare for children in our region,” said Bethany Dienes, director of annual gifts. “The money raised from the buy-back program enables the hospital to purchase state-of-the-art technology and medical equipment for the patient areas. This includes our Mobile Intensive Care transport vehicles, surgical equipment, Giraffe© bed isolettes for the NICU and much more. Dayton Children’s is grateful to the community for the support it provides for children’s health.”

To give the community a glimpse of how children cope with serious illness, Dayton Children’s has produced a video called “World of Hope” featuring fearless patients as they battle dragons and bad guys, venture into outer space and take advantage of special magical potions.

To donate at Rumpke, customers pull into a convenient drive-thru, where workers help unload recyclables onto scales. Cash is paid for these materials:

Aluminum Cans
Aluminum Siding and Scrap
Cardboard
Copper
Glass
Iron
Newspaper
Office Paper
Radiators
Stainless Steel
The recyclables must already be separated to earn a cash payback or make a donation to Dayton Children’s. The buy-back is located at 1300 E. Monument Avenue in Dayton. The drive-thru is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. For current prices, customers should call (800) 223-3960.
