DIY Rustic Flower Vase

With your next summer road trip right around the corner, you’ll need plenty of snacks for the car ride. A common on-the-go snack is Pringles chips. Instead of tossing the container in the garbage once your salty treat is consumed– give it a new life as your very own rustic flower vase. It’s a fun Pinterest find. Below are some step-by-step directions on how to make your own.

Note: Because of drying time, this project takes approximately three days.

Items you will need

Pringles 1

  • An empty Pringles container
  • Rocks
  • Leak seal rubber coating
  • Super adhesive spray
  • Grout
  • Mod podge
  • A soft sponge
  • A paint brush
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • A clean surface, like a flattened cardboard box you won’t mind getting dirty.

Before you begin, make sure to rinse out all the crumbs from the container and that the container is dry.

1.) Removing the lid from the leak seal rubber coating and spray the inside of the container. This will prevent water from dripping through your container when you put flowers in it.
2.) Next, lay the container on its side and spray a small section of the container with the spray adhesive. Once the adhesive is on a small section, start covering it with rocks and complete this process until the entire can is covered with the rocks.

After waiting 24 hours for the adhesive to dry, you may mix your grout and begin spreading it with your fingers over the entire surface of the rocks. Use a paintbrush to push the grout in-between the small cracks separating the rocks. Pringles 6

4.) Then, before the grout has dried, wet your soft sponge and wipe down the vase to get as much grout off the surface of the rocks as possible. Wipe additional moisture from the rocks with a paper towel.

5.) After waiting 24 hours for the grout to dry, take the mod podge and dip a paint brush in it to spread it smoothly across the entire surface of the container. This will give the vase a sheen.

Once the mod podge is dry, enjoy your rustic rock vase and proudly tell visitors you made it yourself out of a Pringles can.
