Current Operations
- Rumpke purchased the Boyd County Landfill in November 2018.
- The site sits on 1,600 acres over an abandoned coal and clay mine.
- 175 acres are permitted for waste disposal.
- The landfill is permitted to receive up to 2,000 tons per day within its designated service area.
- Based on present volumes, the site has 95 years of remaining capacity.
Site Features
- In partnership with bp Archaea, the landfill features a state-of-the art landfill-gas-to-RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) recovery system.
- Gas extraction pipes throughout the landfill collect methane and turn it into renewable natural gas at the on-site bp Aechaea Gas Plant.
- The state-of-the-art wheel wash system has over 250,000 gallons of clean water storage to clean entire trucks, undercarriages and wheels.
- Cell 1 expansion preparation will continue throughout 2024, with construction planned for 2025.
