Richland County and Rumpke Partner to Keep Roadways Litter-Free

MANSFIELD, Ohio – March 25, 2015 – The Richland County Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (RCRSWMA) and Rumpke are partnering to keep county roadways litter-free.

RCRSWMA’s Roadside Litter Program works to clean up trash along Richland County roadways, ranging from general litter to larger issues of illegal open dumping.

“In the past several years, the program has played a significant role in keeping Richland County clean and litter-free,” said Kenneth Bender, RCRSWMA executive director.

Rumpke will contribute $15,000 worth of disposal services at the Richland County Transfer Station for the Roadside Litter Program in 2015. Rumpke has provided this donation since 2010.

“Rumpke is dedicated to protecting the environment and keeping our neighborhoods clean and green,” said Alvie Green, Rumpke landfill manager. “We are proud to support the District in their effort to keep our community beautiful.”

Richland County will conduct a litter collection kick-off and press conference on Thursday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at the Downtown Mansfield, Inc. office located at 101 1/2 North Main Street in Mansfield. Local mayors and Richland County Commissioners will speak about earth stewardship and litter control at the event.

Residents can support the initiative by properly disposing or recycling all unwanted items, or by volunteering to help with the cleanup. For more information about RCRSWMA, visit http://www.richlandrecycles.com/.
