MANSFIELD, Ohio—Aug. 6, 2014—Rumpke Waste & Recycling will celebrate its five year anniversary in the Mansfield, Ohio area this week.
In August 2009, Rumpke entered the Mansfield market by purchasing the Mansfield Hauling Depot, Transfer Station and Noble Road Landfill (in Butler Township) from Republic Services. It marked the largest acquisition in Rumpke’s history.

Since 2009, Rumpke’s employment base has increased 21 percent at its Mansfield locations. Rumpke has 60 trash and recycling trucks in its Mansfield fleet, up from 50 in 2009.
Rumpke’s Noble Road Landfill has positively impacted the local economy. Rumpke pays a fee based on landfill tonnage to both Butler Township and the Richland County Regional Solid Waste Authority. In 2013, Rumpke paid Butler Township $163,000, up from $100,000 in 2009. The company paid the solid waste authority $648,000 in 2013, up from $317,000 in 2009.
As a family business, Rumpke remains actively involved in the community. Since 2010, Rumpke has awarded annual scholarships to five Richland County high school students. Rumpke also hosts annual open houses at the Noble Road Landfill. This year’s open house will be Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The open house allows our neighbors to learn what Rumpke does at the landfill to protect our health, safety and the environment,” said Rumpke. “We invite our neighbors to join us for tours, a picnic and other learning opportunities.”
