At Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. keeping your neighborhood beautiful is the basis of our business. Cleaning up is our job, so we do the very best job that we can.
The Rumpke philosophy involves caring for the earth and the environment. With this in mind, Rumpke operates landfills using the latest technology available for maximum protection. All Rumpke's landfills feature protective liners both under and above the trash. The liner system includes a recompacted clay liner, a 60 mil thick high density plastic covering and a geocomposite covering to protect the earth below the garbage, as well as the environment above.
At Rumpke's Cincinnati landfill, the company works with Getty Synthetic Fuels to extract methane gas from the landfill. The gas is purified and used to heat approximately 20,000 homes in Colerain Township, Ohio.
Leachate, any liquid that come into contact with trash (either at your home or in the landfill), is removed from the landfill and pumped to the Metropolitan Sewer district for safe disposal.
Rumpke's friends and neighbors who live near the 10 landfills that the company operates, probably already know that the company implements several procedures to minimize the impact of landfills. We install wheel washes and truck washes to clean the vehicles that leave our facilities. We construct sound walls to reduce heavy equipment and truck noise. Our street cleaners work tirelessly to clean the roadways that accommodate our truck traffic. Whenever possible we recycle rain water and reuse it for dust control. Rumpke's state-of-the-art odor control systems operate to neutralize odors rendering them odor free before they leave our site. And finally, we even pick up our own trash. If the wind carries trash over our 10 to 20 feet high litter prevention fences then Rumpke's litter crews spring into action. These Rumpke employees clean up neighborhoods around our landfills and take care of any wind blown litter.
A Commitment To Recycling
Rumpke encourages all residential, industrial and commercial customers to recycle whenever possible. Rumpke promotes recycling as a method to keep air, water and land clean and to save natural resources. Not to mention, landfills are closing quickly as more than 209 million tons of garbage is collected annually in the US.
A Commitment To Education
Rumpke promotes Earth Day celebrations throughout Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The corporation strongly supports the mission of the celebration and acknowledges the need to educate the general public about recycling, proper waste disposal and other environmental issues.
